Bauchi Governor Mohammed Reassigns Commissioners As Some Cabinet Members Resign

The Bauchi Cabinet Reshuffle commenced after Governor Bala Mohammed approved the immediate deployment and assignment of supervisory roles to several cabinet members following the resignation of the Chief of Staff and six commissioners pursuing political ambitions. This was disclosed in a statement issued to newsmen by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.    



According to the statement, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Aminu Gamawa, alongside the affected commissioners, tendered their resignations to pursue political aspirations.      




The affected commissioners include Dr. Yakubu Adamu of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Hajiya Hajara Wanka of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, and Nuhu Zaki of the Ministry of Water Resources.    



Others are Alhaji Farouk Mustapha Katagum of the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties, Isah Babayo Tilde of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and Usman Modibo Abdulkadir of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

In response to the resignations, Governor Mohammed approved the immediate redeployment of commissioners and assigned supervisory responsibilities to some cabinet members to oversee the affected ministries pending the appointment of substantive officials.    



The statement noted that the directive forms part of ongoing efforts by the administration to ensure uninterrupted service delivery across the state.    



Under the new arrangement, Hashimu Yakubu, the Principal Private Secretary (PPS) to the Governor, will supervise the Office of the Chief of Staff, Government House, Bauchi, while Dr. Mohammed Lawal Rimi Zayam has been deployed to the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology.    



The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hassan Usman El-Yakub, SAN, will supervise the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.    



Similarly, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Usman Shehu, will oversee the Ministry of Water Resources, while Danlami Ahmed Kawule, Commissioner for Housing and Environment, will supervise the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties.    



Also, Mohammed Sadiq Shira, Commissioner for Cooperatives and SMEs, has been assigned to oversee the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.     The Commissioner for Budget, Planning and Multilateral Coordination, Amina Muhammad Katagum, will take charge of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management in a supervisory capacity.    



In the same vein, DIG Sani Mohammed (RTD), the Chief Security Adviser to the Governor, has been assigned to supervise the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.    



According to the statement, Governor Mohammed acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing cabinet members to the growth and advancement of his administration and wished them success in their future endeavours.    



The Governor also urged the newly assigned officials to take full responsibility for their respective offices and apply their experience and expertise toward effective administration. He further directed them to work closely with permanent secretaries to ensure smooth and efficient governance across the affected ministries.



The Bauchi cabinet reshuffle is expected to ensure continuity in governance and uninterrupted service delivery across key ministries in the state.
