Nigeria does not lack security agencies. Let’s stop lying to ourselves. From the police force to the military, DSS, NSCDC, and countless other formations, the country is saturated with institutions designed to protect lives and property. On paper, Nigeria should be one of the safest nations in Africa. But reality tells a different story. What is killing Nigeria’s security is not lack of structure, it is the cancer of foolish ideologies, dangerous compromises, and misplaced loyalties.

    Security institutions are meant to be neutral. They are supposed to rise above tribe, religion, politics, and personal interests. That is the global standard. Nigeria has chosen the opposite. Here, tribe matters. Religion matters. Politics matters. Connections matter. And professionalism? National interest? Competence? They come last.   A System Rigged Against Itself Recruitment into security agencies is no longer about merit. It is influenced by who you know, where you come from, what religion you practice, and which political camp you belong to. The dangerous philosophy now governing Nigeria is simple: “He who pays the piper dictates the tune.” If someone appoints you, your loyalty is no longer to Nigeria, it is to that individual. That is where everything collapses. Security becomes personal. Command becomes compromised. Decisions become biased. And the nation bleeds. A Country at War With Itself Our soldiers are dying, inside their own country. Our police officers are dying, inside their own country. Let that sink in. A nation with “a thousand and one” security agencies is producing zero meaningful results where it matters most: protecting its people. This is not just failure. This is systemic breakdown. The Bible says, “He who breaks the hedge, the serpent will bite.” Nigeria has broken its own hedge. And now, the consequences are biting hard. The Hard Truth Nigerians Avoid Let’s ask the uncomfortable question about the Nigeria Security Crisis: If Nigeria faces an external war today, what happens? Be honest with yourself. A country already overwhelmed by internal insecurity… A system crippled by division… A structure weakened by politics and favoritism… Such a nation cannot withstand external aggression. It would collapse faster than we are willing to admit. Playing Politics With Human Lives Nigeria has politicized everything, including security and human life. Appointments are political. Decisions are political. Responses to crises are political. Even death has been politicized. This is not governance. This is recklessness.     A Gloomy Outlook - But Not a Hopeless One From a spiritual and practical standpoint, the signs are troubling. The future looks dangerously uncertain, unless decisive and immediate corrections are made. Nigeria is standing at a crossroads. Continue like this, and the system will completely collapse. Act now, and there is still hope.  

THE WAY FORWARD - CLEAR, HARD, NON-NEGOTIABLE Enough talk. Here are the solutions to the Nigeria Security Crisis: 1. Separate Religion from the State Religion has no place in governance decisions. Faith should guide personal morality, not national security policies. 2. Remove Religion from Partisan Politics Stop weaponizing religion to gain power. It divides the nation and destroys objectivity. 3. Keep Traditional Leadership Neutral Traditional institutions must not be dragged into political battles. Their role is cultural unity, not partisan alignment. 4. Detach Culture from Organized Religion Conflicts Nigeria must stop mixing identity battles with governance. It creates confusion and unnecessary tension. 5. Professionalize Security and Public Service Every role must be based on competence, not connections. If you are qualified, you serve. If you are not, you don’t. No shortcuts. No favoritism. 6. Ensure Fair and Livable Wages Underpaid officers cannot protect a nation effectively. Welfare is not a luxury, it is a necessity for national security. 7. End the Culture of Multiple Engagements You cannot serve two masters effectively. When individuals juggle multiple roles, professionalism dies, accountability disappears, and quackery thrives.

This is not an attack on individuals. This is a wake-up call to a nation drifting dangerously. Nigeria does not need more agencies. Nigeria does not need more speeches. Nigeria needs discipline, neutrality, and courage to do what is right. Until that happens, insecurity will remain, no matter how many uniforms we produce.
